Random acts of kindness

In a world where you can be anything, always choose to be kind. 🙏🏻💓🌿✨

Here are some of my favourite ideas for random acts of kindness, we could all do from time to time, which are small to us, but will mean a lot to another person.

1. Buy coffee for the person behind you in the line

2. Compliment the first 3 people you speak to today.

3. Send a positive text message to 5 different people right now

4. Post an inspirational quote on social media

5. Donate old towels and blankets to an animal shelter

6. Say hi to the person next to you in the elevator

7. Let someone go infront of you who only has a few items

8. Smile at five strangers today

9. Send a gratitude email to a coworker who deserves more recognition.

10. Practice self-kindness and spend 30 minutes doing something you love today.

11. Offer to babysit for free to any parents you know in need of a night out

12. Write a positive comment on your favorite blog, website, or a friend’s social media account.

13. While you’re out, compliment a parent on how well-behaved their child is.

14. Put 50 paper hearts in a box. On each cutout write something that is special about your partner or a friend. Give them the box and tell them to pull out a heart anytime they need a pick-me-up.

15. Write your partner a list of things you love about them.

16. Donate to your local food bank

17. Run an errand for a family member who is busy.

18. Put your phone away while in the company of others.

19. Volunteer at a homeless shelter

20. Hold the door open for someone

21. Give someone a lottery ticket

22. Call your parents to tell them you love them

23. Let your partner watch their favourite show even if you hate it

24. Make someone a playlist

25. Give someone a book you think they’d like

26. Wash someone’s car

27. Give someone a hug

28. Teach someone a recipe

29. Leave a larger tip than normal

30. Send dessert to another table

31. Give up your seat on the bus

32. Leave change in a vending machine

33. Each time you get a new item of clothing, give away something old.

34. Do the dishes even if it’s not your turn

35. Give blood

36. Donate your hair when you get a haircut

Do you have any other suggestions for random acts of kindness? 💛

  • We spent the full day cleaning, what’s new? I think when you’re house proud and organised (which I am these days thanks to Tazmyn) you automatically just want to clean and it becomes part of your daily routine. We did laundry, put laundry away, I hoovered downstairs, Tazmyn hoovered upstairs. That’s the rule. I never hoover upstairs. Sprayed the shit out of all the carpets with my 1001 spray, blitzed the kitchen, done the toilets, Tazmyn cleaned the bedroom, refreshed the sofas and made them look alive again, put fresh water in the flowers, wiped down the sides, took the rubbish out, fed the kitty cats, filled out some paperwork that I had been putting off for weeks, had a bath, washed my hair, done a hair mask AND I EVEN COOKED DINNER 😮😳 I know right, you’ve probably died in shock, but it’s true. I even cooked dinner. I cook as little as possible if I’m honest with you, not because I’m lazy and can’t be bothered, I’m not very good at it but I’ll at least give it a go.. but because I have a wife who I reckon could quite easily get a job working in a Michelin star restaurant so why in the name of lord suffering Jesus Christ would I even waste my time cooking when she always does it better?! That’s my excuse anyway.
  • Ive been using some new products as part of my bath routine so thought I’d list them here.
  • Radix shower mousse
  • I saw this when I was in Sainsbury’s recently, it was down from £2.50 to £1.50 absolute bargain! So I picked up the mango and mandarin scent, they had a few others to choose from as well. It’s like a shaving cream but works as a body wash too, and it smells insane. I used it in the bath and it felt amazing on my skin so I’d definitely use it again and maybe try the other scents next time too. Have you used this? If so, what scent did you go for?
  • Umberto Giannini hair mask
  • I am a huuuuuuge fan of hair masks. I use them at least once a week, usually twice. Lately I’ve been using this over indulge mask mainly because the smell is just absolutely unreal, it’s minty and leaves my hair feeling super hydrated and moisturised. I put it on my hair after shampoo and conditioning it, I rinse off the conditioner, comb my hair through and then apply this hair mask and literally leave on overnight. The following time I wash my hair and then blow dry it and straighten it, it always go super sleek and glossy because of using this prior. I love this mask and I’ve used hundreds!
  • The body shop almond milk yoghurt
  • How is this only £6 that’s what I wanna know, I’d pay double for it. Firstly it smells unreal but it also comes in so many different scents so if almond milk isn’t your thing then don’t worry, you will find a scent you prefer. Tazmyn has the banana one and I HATEEEEE the smell of banana, it literally makes me want to throw up. I smother myself in this after a bath, it absorbs into the skin immediately and just feels amazing. This will be on my Christmas wish list! Maybe 10 of them.
  • Endless Love VS
  • Am I the only person who puts perfume/body mist on after a bath and before bed? I’ve done it all my life and it makes me feel fresh and clean and smelling good. This is my absolute favourite Victoria Secret spray. It used to be available in Superdrug for like £12 I think, then it discontinued 😩😩😩😩 so Tazmyn tracked it down for my birthday online and probably paid 10 times the original price, but it’s my fave and it smells sooooooo good! 🍎🌸🌿💓
  • I came out of my bath to the cutest little note, she has a habit of doing this for me from time to time.. it really is the little things that mean the most!
  • She da best! 💌☺️
  • & yeah, I made dinner. I wouldn’t exactly say it was anything worth writing home about but I’m Italian and I know how to throw together a pasta dish or two. This was super super quick and easy.
  • Decided to be all fancy and buy a posh packet of pasta. Huuuuuuge shells. We hadn’t had this pasta shape before so thought we’d try it. Quorn meatballs, not because they’re healthier then regular meatballs, but because we love them, they’re super quick to cook and full of flavour!
  • So I fried the meatballs in fry light, chilli flakes and garlic pepper. They honestly don’t take long to cook at all, maybe a few minutes but I cooked them for extra long so they turned a bit crisper and that’s how we like them. For the sauce, I literally got a bottle of tomato and garlic passata. Simple but tasty. When the meatballs were brown and crispy, I went ahead and added the passata. Added a few more chilli flakes and some black pepper. Had this on a really low heat while I boiled the pasta.
  • This particular pasta shape took 17-19 minutes to cook, felt like a million years but because the shells are so big I guess that’s why it took longer.
  • Not to blow my own trumpet but it tasted pretty good. Of course there was loads of left overs, there always is. Tazmyn said it’s the best pasta she’s ever had (she says that every bloody time I cook pasta!)
  • Who’s been watching big brother? Beside myself that it’s the last ever series but it’s sooooo good!! We want Lewis F to win now. I think he will. Who’s ya fave?

    Cara’s Corner Creations

I’m a HUGE fan of small independent business’ and even more so if they’re for a good cause, which brings me to Cara!

I’ve followed Cara’s blog for a little while, she blogs about mental health and lifestyle and I’ve enjoyed all of her posts, so when I noticed she had started up her own little shop, I had to get involved. It stemmed from a passion to make things in her spare time for her family and her friends, and with the encouragement from them, Cara decided to put her creative side to use, and start an online store, selling the things she makes in the hopes they will make people smile and whilst doing so allowing her own mental health to improve by focusing on something so positive.

You can find Cara’s blog here and her selling page, hereplease do go and check her out! 💗

So whilst browsing the items Cara had made, a few things really stood out to me. I absolutely loved the fact that some of the proceeds of her items were being donated to either Mind Charity or Beat. Both of which are amazing charities that I fully support. If this wasn’t enough to instantly make me want to purchase something, the things she makes are just truly beautiful and so sweet. Things you perhaps may not have thought of yourself, but having seen them now think to yourself “wow this is such a thoughtful gift to either give someone or to simply keep for myself”. I especially liked the pocket sized self care cards so of course I bought them straight away.

Shipping was super fast! I think I received them within a couple of days, and once I opened them, they looked so cute, as well as being packaged so beautifully.

Inside the package you get a little business card from Cara, stating everything she blogs about, as well as all the places you can find her on the reverse side, links to her website, her twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and of course her Etsy store too!

You also receive a little thank you card letting you know what charity a proceed of the funds have been donated to which I think is a really lovely little touch.

    And the self care cards!

So so beautiful. Each card contains a different message on, a small reminder of things you may need to hear every day. Whether it’s a reminder that self care isn’t selfish, or just to breathe, these little cards are perfect to keep on you at all times, and fit right inside of your purse! I can’t wait to carry mine around with me, and look at them whenever I need to. I think sometimes it’s so easy to forget to be kind to yourself, that it’s okay to take 5 minutes if you need to and that it’s okay to say no. These cards are so perfect for me, for anybody, no matter what job you do, where you are in the world, everyone needs a little reminder sometimes that they’re not as bad as they may feel they are. Nobody is perfect.

When I received these beautiful personalised cards from Cara, I went onto her Etsy store to see what other creations she had, and instantly fell in love with the Mental Health Recovery Stickers and the Feminist Stickers – these were both priced at £2 per pack and you get 10 in each pack, I love stickers, I think they’re brilliant and you can put them anywhere, whether it’s on stationary, in letters, cards, wherever! So I popped another order Cara’s way, and less than an hour later they were shipped!

How cute are they? I love what each sticker says! 🙂

    Feminist stickers

    Mental health recovery stickers

Thank you Cara not only for sending me these beautiful little creations of yours, but for donating some of the proceeds to charities that are in constant need of funding, for spreading kindness in the hopes it will brighten people’s day. I think everyone needs to stumble across your page like I did 💗

    Goals for the week

We spent our Sunday being lazy on the sofa at my mums house in our pyjamas watching movies, drinking tea and waiting for the roast dinner to be ready that she was cooking for us. Is there any better way to spend a Sunday though, seriously?

It’s officially one week until Barcelona. One week until the start of Autumn. This week is going to be crazy busy getting the last minute things ready for our holiday.. I actually said to Tazmyn yesterday “what do I even still need to buy?” She replied with “don’t worry I’ve written you a list” ha, there goes the organisation I was telling you about a few posts a go. We also have a funeral this week, my mums aunty sadly passed away not long ago, she was 91 so lived a pretty fulfilled life. We have her funeral on Thursday, I have absolutely nothing to wear but don’t think I’ll buy anything new.

Whilst Tazmyn was watching a thriller movie I thought I’d comprise this blog post and create a little list of what we need to do this week:

🌸 spend Monday doing all our washing (how do two people get through so many clothes? I swear there’s at least 4 loads I need to do!)

🌸 buy hairdye and last minute bits for holiday, toiletries etc. My hair is so gross at the moment, trying not to colour it so much.

🌸 Tazmyns getting a hair cut

    🌸 Funeral on Thursday

🌸 Book lounges for the airport. – we try to book a lounge whenever we go away, just find them really good value for money, away from the hustle and bustle of a busy airport, nice seating, unlimited food and drinks and CHARGING POINTS for your phone! Also they start the holiday off nicely too. Have you tried any airport lounges? What ones do you recommend?

🌸 Get euros – we really are leaving everything until the last minute!

🌸 Tazmyn’s treating me to get my nails done

    🌸 Start packing

🌸 (Tazmyn asked me as I was typing this, what I was doing.. told her I was doing this blog post and she shouted YOU NEED TO GIVE ME A PEDICURE”) so that! 🤦🏻‍♀️

🌸 buy food for the week, maybe an online shop because it’s just easier!

My god, writing it all out seems like we have so much to do but lists are always helpful for me. Usually before a holiday I’m really excited but I’m not yet.. I think it’s because I HATE travelling and I despise airports.. why does it take so long to get through security and collect your luggage and stand around waiting for people to pick up the pace? I wish we could just bypass all that and arrive at the hotel and c’est la vie.

What’s your week looking like? x

    Dinner partayyy

We hosted a dinner party, I’d say it’s something we’re really bloody good at. Tazmyn is without a doubt the best cook I have ever met, we’re at the point where I’d rather her cook me something indoors than going out for food and if you know me, you’ll know that’s HUGE.

The day started off terribly bad. Don’t you just hate those kind of days? I spent 1 hour 26 minutes of my life on the phone for the 8th time in 5 days to BT broadband customer services, which annoyingly are based over in India. Like are you kidding me!?? It got to the point today, after 5 days of being fed utter bullshit about when my broadband will be up and running again, where I just lost my shit. Full on screaming at them on the phone, telling whoever was on the other end of the line that I wanted to speak to the manager, only then to have the same issues with the manager because he didn’t understand my frustration and his pathetic bullshit attempts to feed me even more lies just rattled my cage. Genuinely I find screaming and shouting a pointless exercise because nobody on this planet is worth losing your voice for, but my god.. when you’re paying for a service and not getting that service but a load of lies being thrown into the mix, all you’re left to do is scream and shout and demand answers, immediately!! 1 hour and 26 minutes later, I told him I wanted to speak to somebody in the U.K because do you know what? Frankly I didn’t and don’t understand how somebody on the other side of the continent could possibly tell me about the BT open reach people in my local area. I’d had enough. Eventually I got put through to a nice northern Irish gentleman in his late 50’s who managed to calm my rage somewhat and reassure me that the issue will be sorted within 24 hours.. while I’m anything but entirely hopeful at this point, I’m too drained to argue anymore with them, I’ll rinse my data on my phone instead because this life is far too short to worry about internet boltons and buying more data, LIVE YOUR LIFE and do whatever is necessary to get through the day. Joanna Lumley is going to Turkey tonight at 9pm and I’m not missing that because of the guys at BT open reach so there ya go.

I comprised a list of jobs I needed to get done this afternoon, I find making lists really helpful!

🌸 throw the dead flowers away, wash vase ready for the new ones mum will bring me tonight.

    🌸 wash the dishes

    🌸 clean the kitchen

🌸 wipe down the dining room table and coffee table in the lounge

🌸 shake n vac the shit out of my carpets

    🌸 hoover

    🌸 1001 spray my carpets

🌸 set the table for dinner

🌸 spritz the sofas and curtains and everywhere with my homemade febreeze

🌸 light candles, and wax burners

    🌸 fold laundry

    🌸 clean toilets

I tick each job off the list one at a time as they’re done. I can’t bare an unclean house, especially when you’re having people over.

FYI, for those wondering.. this is the magic 1001 carpet spray! I have about 8 bottles of the stuff in different scents and get through a bottle every 2 days! It’s amazing.

Tazmyn prepped her famous potatoes before going into the oven 😍 they smell as good as they look, and taste even better!

1 out of two puds.. chocolate and pecan torte with a sea salt finish, made by my lovely mum!

I got the house smelling amazing, I even lit my new bath and body works candle. We drank Prosecco (mine with lemonade because I really am teetotal these days!) – dinner was lovely! Homemade toad in the hole, potatoes and veggies and lots of gravy. It really feels like autumn today, so this was the perfect meal and everyone complemented Tazmyns cooking like they always do. She said how much she loved cooking for everyone so I definitely think we’ll be making this a regular thing.

We made lots of plans over the autumn, and Halloween and firework night. I’m so excited as this is my favourite season by far.

As soon as everyone left, we were straight into the kitchen, me washing up as usual and Tazmyn putting things away. Pink grapefruit Zoflora filled in my kitchen sink with hot water and french lavender method all over my worktops. It’s so satisfying going to bed knowing the house is back to being clean and tidy and you don’t have to deal with it all in the morning! Not my style at all.

I think we’ll sleep really good tonight! x

    Sunshine Blogger Award

Oh my gosh, so I was nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award by the lovely Mary Beth. My blog is literally only 40 days old so I feel super honoured to have been nominated for this as I’m still finding my feet. Thank you!

Check out Mary Beth’s blog here; 💗

    Here are the rules:

    • Thank the blogger and link their blog in your post.

    • Answer the 11 questions they asked.

    • Nominate 11 other bloggers and ask them 11 questions.

    • List the rules and display the logo on the post.

    1. What is your ideal vacation?

Literally anywhere the sun is! An all inclusive hotel with a beach close by. Turkey is my favourite holiday destination so far, so I’m going to say there!

    2. Do you have your own writing space? Absolutely not. I’d love to have my own little cute room to write all my blogs in, but no unfortunately not! The majority of my blog posts are drafted on the sofa whilst drinking tea.

    3. What is your all time favourite movie?

I have like 3, but I’ll say Pretty Woman because I think that’s my all time fave!

    4. Who, or what, in the fictional world do you wish was real?

Not really a fictional kind of girl. I just wish Gemma Collins was my best friend.

    5. What is the most important lesson you learned in school?

That if I was to ever have a daughter of my own, she wouldn’t be going to an all girls school like I did.

    6. When did you know you wanted to be a writer?

I think when Twitter first came out and I instantly became hooked on it, it’s still my favourite social media platform now, it made me realise how much I like to express myself through words. I’d love to write a book.

    7. Do you prefer beer, wine, or another drink?

Diet Coke. All day every day.

    8. Is there a particular piece of art or literature that really inspires you?

Pretty much everything that comes out of Laura Jane Williams‘ mouth inspires me.

    9. What is on your current playlist?

Carrie Underwood as always, Ariana Grande’s new album too but I always listen to Carrie Underwood when I’m blogging.

    10. What advice would you give to new writers and bloggers?

Don’t try to find a niche to fit into. Write about what you’re passionate about, and that will become your niche.

    11. What is your Hogwarts house?

Apologies, I am not a Harry Potter girl at all.

Now I am nominating the following bloggers for being amazing role models for me as a writer, for constantly giving encouragement to me as well as others, and just for being awesome!
