My must have home buys.

lifestyle

It’s my favourite thing to do at the moment. House shop and search interior design accounts on Instagram. So in this post I have compiled my must have home essentials, basically all of my favourite things at the moment! I hope you enjoy it! 🙂 x

1. Pom Pom placemats.

Pack of two Pom Pom placemats from NEXT home. This pack of two is £6 and comes in both the grey shade but also a blush pink too. I’m all over the Pom Pom design at the moment as I think it’s so on trend and pretty. I just can’t decide between these or the blush pink?

2. Confetti mugs

This set of 4 confetti style mugs from NEXT are super cute. They’re priced at £18 & I love them.

3. Catherine Lansfield Canterbury bedding

From NEXT again, we actually purchased this bedding set a while ago and LOVE it. The design is so pretty. Priced at £18-25 depending on size.

4. 12 piece peyton dinner set

Priced at £45 from NEXT I am living for this set at the moment, but we have actually recently purchased a very similar one from Waitrose which was slightly cheaper and I’ll show you that below. Love this whole design though.

5.Harrogate 12 piece dinner setWe recently purchased this from Waitrose as it was down to £30 so absolute bargain and really really good quality. As you can tell we love grey!

6. Jo Malone candle Because everyone and every home needs a Jo Malone candle. Absolute must have!

7. Framed plaque

How stunning is this framed plaque from my absolute favourite independent shabby chic Instagram store perfectlovelyinteriors – we pretty much had them furnish the contents of our first flat together. We purchased this plaque a couple of weeks ago and it’s priced at £23.95 – make sure you check their store out!

8. Pom Pom cushionsTo add to my ever growing love for all things Pom Pom. These are super cute and priced at £10.95 each from perfectlylovelyinteriors

9. Oversized star clock This would look super cute in a kitchen I think? I love that it’s really big and can make a statement piece for any room/wall. Again priced at 23.95 and from perfectlylovelyinteriors.

10. Bloom candles

My favourite go to place for candles on Instagram. Affordable and unique. We have had a variety of bloom candles and wax melts in each of our homes, they’re perfect for every room!

11. Fridge freezer of dreams

It wouldn’t be a dream home without one of these. I know I love grey, but I think these look nicer in a dark charcoal almost black shade. Love love love.

12. An espresso machine

Still working out what the best one on the market is, but this sage by Heston Blumenthal has my name all over it.

13. Bath towels So we tend to always buy towels from either Marks and Spencer or NEXT purely because the quality is so good. We love the charcoal colour.

14. Artificial flowers & plants

They’re pretty & you don’t have to look after them! This particular one is £55 from NEXT but Matalan do some amazing ones too for very cheap.

15. Wicker baskets/storage baskets

Sticking with the very on trend Pom Pom theme, I’m loving this wicker storage basket! Perfect for the the bathroom, bedroom or wherever! We actually have wicker baskets for our throws and blankets in our living room. This particular one though is £12 & from ASOS!

16. No1 Handwash

£2.49 from Aldi, absolute bargain! We have this handwash in all the bathrooms and toilets. Love the scent too. It’s our favourite.

17. Throws

Everyone tends to have throws and blankets in their house, for their sofas or in their living room. We have a wicker basket for our throws in our lounge, and this throw from The Range priced at £15.99 is a real bargain.

So that’s it for my must haves/essentials! Of course there’s so many more things I’ve got or I want but I’d be here all day listing them 😭 house shopping is so much fun though! What are your must haves or on your shopping list?

As always, love

My favourite plus size winter coats this season.

lifestyle

It’s that time of year where I buy my winters coat, every single November, just before bonfire night I always get myself a new coat. To some it’s probably ludicrous to buy a brand new one every year, whilst some buy several every few months. For me though, one winters coat see’s me through the rest of autumn and all of winter so it serves me well.

I’m a plus size curvy girl, so for those of you out there who too are perhaps a little top or bottom heavy, and find coat shopping difficult or maybe have been unable to find something you like, don’t worry.. I have you covered! Whilst I have now chosen my coat this year (its last on the list I’m about to show you!) there were also some other great contenders, so I hope you enjoy this post & manage to find it helpful! 💗

1. Grey Faux Fur Collar Bouclé Coat – Newlook – £49.99

Available in sizes 18-32, I really love the style of this coat. It’s grey, which is very on trend at the moment, I love the fur collar the most.. but I think what ultimately put me off buying this in the end, was the material perhaps not being sustainable in bad weather. Also I worried it looked a little too grannyish? If that’s even a thing. What do you reckon?

2. Vero Moda Curve Oversized Teddy Coat – ASOS – £70

I’m going to be totally honest, ASOS have let me down big time this year with their curve range- last year was a lot lot better, however Teddy Coats are really in at the moment with everyone wanting one, and I liked this one by ASOS at £70. Again, what put me off was the idea it resembled some sort of carpet or rug, as well as obviously getting completely soaked in the rain. Available from sizes 18-24 with free delivery.

3. Plus Belted Faux Fur Hooded Puffer – Boohoo – £49

Okay, so whilst I’m not a personal fan of boohoo curve due to their horrendous sizing, they do have some really stunning pieces throughout the year and some great bargains too. This coat caught my eye and would make a great staple piece to your winter wardrobe I think, priced at £49 with 99p next day delivery, this coat is available in sizes 16-24.

4. Black Longline Wet Look Puffa Coat – YoursClothing – £85.99

Yours Clothing is always my last resort when picking out a winter coat, because I’ll be honest (as always!) however nice something may look on their website (if it looks nice at all) you can bet your life on it, it won’t look the same in person.. so that’s why I’d strongly suggest if you’re shopping from Yours, to go in store and try something on and see it for yourself rather than just buy it online and hate it when it comes. I always find winter coats from Yours come with absolutely no shape and aren’t flattering at all, however this was the best of the bunch this season in my opinion.. in sizes 16-36, you’ll most likely have a lot of room to play around with, and this looks a lot more fitting than majority of them do!

5. Khaki Parker With Detachable Faux Fur – Simply Be – £70

I really really love this coat, and for Simply Be which is renowned to be quite dated with their pieces in the past, this is super on trend and made it to my top 3 coats this year. Available in sizes 10-30 – I absolutely love the fur trim, but Tazmyn wasn’t keen on the colour of the fur, so maybe that’s why I went against it in the end. Also it looks quite fitting as well giving you that flexibility with shape, always a bonus!

6. JunaRose Ola Pink Fur Trim Parka – Very – £100

This was in my final two when making the decision on what coat to get this year. I LOVE the pink fur hood, but for the price I would have wanted some more shape to it, where as this doesn’t look flattering around the waist what’s so ever which always puts me off, available in sizes 14-28 – I personally think this is very on trend, maybe just a bit pricy for what it actually is?

7. Plus Black Faux Fur Trim Longline Parka – River Island £115

The winter coat of dreams, and the one I ended up going for this year. Stunning much? Obviously there’s a running theme with the type of coats I like, being the oversized fur hooded trim, and it really stands out with this one. It is pricy at £115 but I did manage to find an online discount code for river island, so if you do end up going for this one or another from River Island, let me know and I can give you that code. River Island though, are absolutely smashing it right now, when aren’t they? I want the entire collection, and I deserve this coat this season so it’s a treat to myself. Sizes range from 18-28.

So there you have it, my top picks for plus size coats this season. I hope this has helped you in shopping for the perfect winter coat for those cold days and even colder evenings. What was your favourite from the ones I listed? Where do you usually shop for coats? Leave a comment below as always 😘🌷✨

lifestyle
  • We spent the full day cleaning, what’s new? I think when you’re house proud and organised (which I am these days thanks to Tazmyn) you automatically just want to clean and it becomes part of your daily routine. We did laundry, put laundry away, I hoovered downstairs, Tazmyn hoovered upstairs. That’s the rule. I never hoover upstairs. Sprayed the shit out of all the carpets with my 1001 spray, blitzed the kitchen, done the toilets, Tazmyn cleaned the bedroom, refreshed the sofas and made them look alive again, put fresh water in the flowers, wiped down the sides, took the rubbish out, fed the kitty cats, filled out some paperwork that I had been putting off for weeks, had a bath, washed my hair, done a hair mask AND I EVEN COOKED DINNER 😮😳 I know right, you’ve probably died in shock, but it’s true. I even cooked dinner. I cook as little as possible if I’m honest with you, not because I’m lazy and can’t be bothered, I’m not very good at it but I’ll at least give it a go.. but because I have a wife who I reckon could quite easily get a job working in a Michelin star restaurant so why in the name of lord suffering Jesus Christ would I even waste my time cooking when she always does it better?! That’s my excuse anyway.
  • BATH TIME
  • Ive been using some new products as part of my bath routine so thought I’d list them here.
  • Radix shower mousse
  • I saw this when I was in Sainsbury’s recently, it was down from £2.50 to £1.50 absolute bargain! So I picked up the mango and mandarin scent, they had a few others to choose from as well. It’s like a shaving cream but works as a body wash too, and it smells insane. I used it in the bath and it felt amazing on my skin so I’d definitely use it again and maybe try the other scents next time too. Have you used this? If so, what scent did you go for?
  • Umberto Giannini hair mask
  • I am a huuuuuuge fan of hair masks. I use them at least once a week, usually twice. Lately I’ve been using this over indulge mask mainly because the smell is just absolutely unreal, it’s minty and leaves my hair feeling super hydrated and moisturised. I put it on my hair after shampoo and conditioning it, I rinse off the conditioner, comb my hair through and then apply this hair mask and literally leave on overnight. The following time I wash my hair and then blow dry it and straighten it, it always go super sleek and glossy because of using this prior. I love this mask and I’ve used hundreds!
  • The body shop almond milk yoghurt
  • How is this only £6 that’s what I wanna know, I’d pay double for it. Firstly it smells unreal but it also comes in so many different scents so if almond milk isn’t your thing then don’t worry, you will find a scent you prefer. Tazmyn has the banana one and I HATEEEEE the smell of banana, it literally makes me want to throw up. I smother myself in this after a bath, it absorbs into the skin immediately and just feels amazing. This will be on my Christmas wish list! Maybe 10 of them.
  • Endless Love VS
  • Am I the only person who puts perfume/body mist on after a bath and before bed? I’ve done it all my life and it makes me feel fresh and clean and smelling good. This is my absolute favourite Victoria Secret spray. It used to be available in Superdrug for like £12 I think, then it discontinued 😩😩😩😩 so Tazmyn tracked it down for my birthday online and probably paid 10 times the original price, but it’s my fave and it smells sooooooo good! 🍎🌸🌿💓
  • I came out of my bath to the cutest little note, she has a habit of doing this for me from time to time.. it really is the little things that mean the most!
  • She da best! 💌☺️
  • & yeah, I made dinner. I wouldn’t exactly say it was anything worth writing home about but I’m Italian and I know how to throw together a pasta dish or two. This was super super quick and easy.
  • Decided to be all fancy and buy a posh packet of pasta. Huuuuuuge shells. We hadn’t had this pasta shape before so thought we’d try it. Quorn meatballs, not because they’re healthier then regular meatballs, but because we love them, they’re super quick to cook and full of flavour!
  • So I fried the meatballs in fry light, chilli flakes and garlic pepper. They honestly don’t take long to cook at all, maybe a few minutes but I cooked them for extra long so they turned a bit crisper and that’s how we like them. For the sauce, I literally got a bottle of tomato and garlic passata. Simple but tasty. When the meatballs were brown and crispy, I went ahead and added the passata. Added a few more chilli flakes and some black pepper. Had this on a really low heat while I boiled the pasta.
  • This particular pasta shape took 17-19 minutes to cook, felt like a million years but because the shells are so big I guess that’s why it took longer.
  • Not to blow my own trumpet but it tasted pretty good. Of course there was loads of left overs, there always is. Tazmyn said it’s the best pasta she’s ever had (she says that every bloody time I cook pasta!)
  • Who’s been watching big brother? Beside myself that it’s the last ever series but it’s sooooo good!! We want Lewis F to win now. I think he will. Who’s ya fave?
  • Perfect Autumn Day 🍂🧡

    lifestyle

I took you for breakfast this morning, you had a red berry smoothie and I had tropical. You said you thought it was cute how you have brown sauce with your bacon and I always have red. It was the first day so far where I’ve actually felt like it’s autumn. We had a mooch about the garden centre, got excited about the fact their Christmas display is nearly up, talked about how we want to take your parents there when they visit, we found conkers on the ground.. “put some in your bag to take home because they keep spiders away” is what you told me, right after I took a photo of them. All the leaves have changed their colour now, we went for a walk, it’s not hoodie weather just yet but i know it won’t be long.

My mama has left for Ibiza. She was a bundle of nerves on the phone to me telling me how she’s lost her make up bag and that she had to go to Superdrug this morning to buy the essentials, I’m certain I get my disorganisation from her. I hope she has the best 8 days and brings us back presents. She always does.

We came home and put our pyjamas straight back on, I painted my nails.. red because I’m in that kind of mood. We stripped the bed, and used our new oasis washing softener that literally smells like a £60 bottle of perfume, I’m gonna shave my legs later because please tell me what better feeling there is than getting into freshly clean sheets with silky smooth legs? You can’t.

You made us a midweek roast for dinner. Beef because it’s my favourite, we hardly ever have beef. I made the glaze for the beef like I always do, honey, balsamic, crushed garlic, sea salt and black pepper. I’m gonna make you love beef one day. You introduced me into cheesy leeks, it’s been 2 and a half years, you’ve cooked me 100 roast dinners and we still have never had them together.. I’m a fan though. It was the best roast dinner I have ever had in all of my life. I know I say that every time you make me a roast or any meal, but seriously, it was the best. Where did I find you? Who made you? How lucky am I that you’re all mine and I’m the one that gets to experience your amazing cooking every single day of my life? Food is 1 million percent the way to my 💗

We spent the majority of the afternoon and evening snuggled on the sofa, I somehow managed to twist your arm enough into watching Mrs Doubtfire with me. You usually hate all the films I love. I think it’s devastating that children born in this day and age don’t have films like the films I watched growing up. Mrs Doubtfire, Matilda, Curly Sue, The Little Princess, The Secret Garden.. thankful to be a 90s baby right now. This evening we watched the brand new series of The Apprentice, I think this is either the 3rd or 4th season we have started to watch together, we love it!

Today has been one of my absolute favourite days, we even lit my bath and body works candle that you got me for my birthday, I have been waiting for the autumn to actually start using it.. bath and body works are without the doubt the best candle brand in all the world. Expensive but so worth it! Do you remember when I had the chocolate pistachio bath and body works candle? And our entire flat smelt like mint chocolate chip 😍✨

Hoping for many more perfect autumn days like today, and I’m so lucky I get to spend them all with you 💓

    What’s on my playlist?

    lifestyle

I don’t see enough of these posts, and I would love to know what others are listening to right now.

I love music, I don’t think I could go a day without it. Whether it’s while I’m in the shower or when I’m getting ready and doing my hair, music is good any time of the day. I’d say my music taste is quite varied. I love R&B, pop, country, old school classics, bashment, reggae, garage and hip hop. Some days I’ll listen to Chris Brown on repeat and other days I’ll only want to listen to Adele or Carrie Underwood. If my nails are red and I’m feeling confident, out comes Vybz Kartel, Maleek Berry, Movado and Spice. I really do like a bit of everything.

So what’s on my playlist right now?

    1. Mr Probz – Space for two.

I love the lyrics to this song, I’m not sure how old or new it is, as I’ve only just discovered it but I’ve had it on repeat a lot, especially loving the chorus.

    2. Carrie Underwood – End Up With You

Obviously I love Carrie Underwood anyway, I’d say this is probably my favourite song from her second album.

    3. Joeytee – Far From Addiction

I had this on repeat in my ear during the flight home from Barcelona. Love his voice and love this song.

    4. S4G4 – Quickness

Ive been listening to this song for weeks and weeks now, I’m still not bored of it. Doesn’t the guys voice sound exactly like Zayn Malik? I’m convinced it’s him who’s singing..

    5. Christina Aguilera – Pipe

This song is a proper feel good confident booster song in my opinion, love Christina Aguilera, love her voice, love this song.

    6. Mr P & Nyanda – Wokie Wokie

Nyanda is one of the sisters from Brick & Lace (those were the dayssss) and this tune is just so good if you like this kind of music, which I do!

What’s on your playlist right now? I’d love to know.

    Trip advisor queen 🐝👸🏻

    lifestyle

I leave reviews on trip advisor WHEREVER we go. Whether it’s a cafe or a hotel, I always review the shit out of them because you can’t beat an honest review really can you? The one I left for our hotel in Turkey in June has had come with benefits, we’re going back there next year and it’s cost us nothing. We have had meals in restaurants for free due to me reviewing them, but on the down side.. not all of these reviews are good. And there’s no point in pretending they are because what good is that going to do anybody who reads it?

I’m honest. Sometimes I’m too honest. But just like I praise something if I enjoy it, I’ll criticise it if I don’t and hopefully others can learn from my experience and make their own judgement after reading my thoughts.

I asked my followers on Instagram whether or not I should post on here my recent trip advisor review for the hotel we stayed in, in Barcelona and this is what they said..

Here’s my trip advisor review for our hotel in Barcelona, submitted on Thursday

My wife and I recently got married and decided to be spontaneous and book a “mystery holiday” through sunshine holidays. We were guaranteed a 4 star hotel but had no idea where exactly we would be staying until two days prior to our flight. When we finally got the email to say we would be staying at the Pineda palace, I’ll be honest I wasn’t impressed. The reviews were pretty much all crap and the photos showed an old fashioned run down hotel which isn’t my cup of tea at all. After 45 minutes on the phone to sunshine holidays trying to change the hotel, and getting nowhere as it was too close to the departure date, we were left with no choice but to make the best of it and see it as an adventure. The shuttle bus from Barcelona airport to the hotel was absolutely horrific, from speaking to other people on our bus/coach who had holidayed in Barcelona before, we now know that all shuttle busses from the airport to hotels are known to take a long time. We sat on the coach for about 30 minutes before the driver decided to put his foot down, then he took us to terminal 1 to pick up even more passengers even though there was barely any room left on the coach! 1 hour and 45 minutes later we arrived at Pineda Palace, tired, hot and ready to sleep. The front of the hotel is facing a railway track and behind that is the beach which admittedly is beautiful. The actual enterance of the hotel is underwhelming and reminded me of faulty towers! The guy who checked us in was tall, grey and with a receding hairline.. I think he may have been French but I’m not certain. Anyway, he’d obviously been on a long shift because his mouth was incredibly dry and this breath smelt so bad, bless his heart though he was pleasant enough and even gave us a sea view room which apparently is an additional €35 a night!! We were in room 527 on the fifth floor, right by the lift and our view was incredible. The room itself was 1960’s decor and not been updated since. The beds were two singles pushed together and I think my back needs 6 months of physio now after 4 nights of sleeping on it. The bathroom was ok, again old fashioned but the shower was good and really powerful. The TV was a nice size and on the wall but we couldn’t get any English channels which was annoying! WiFi was €10 euros per person for 3 days which I actually thought was quite a lot but there you go, we still paid it because I wasn’t about to be without Instagram for 4 days. The restaurant in the hotel is probably the worst restaurant in any hotel I have ever stayed in (I’ve been to all the Canary Islands, Italy, Tunisia, Ibiza, Turkey, etc) but this restaurant is the equivalent of what I imagine retirement home meals to be like. Nothing is warm, everything is tasteless and boring. I had pasta at every meal but even that was ringing in water because apparently this hotel don’t believe in draining their pasta before shoving it on your plate! My wife had chips and bread at every single meal because the sight of everything else turned her stomach. The Italian themed night was the best, the risotto was edible and we had seconds but everything else was gross. Breakfast was an absolute car crash, the eggs looked like they should still be in the chicken!! I had pancakes most mornings but they tasted like rubber and I couldn’t wash away the taste with the orange juice because that tasted like rats piss so I spent all of my money in the vending machine situated in reception on cans of sprite and bars of kinder bueno, 4 days in and I think I am turning into a kinder bueno so it’s probably just as well we fly home later today. The swimming pool situated on the rooftop on the top floor of the hotel has some pretty views, but the swimming pool itself is smaller than one you could get in your back garden. We didn’t go in the pool once where usually every holiday we go on we spend all day lounging by the pool and swimming. It just wasn’t appealing here. There’s some nice seating next to the bar on the rooftop which we sat at occasionally with a drink only because there was nothing else to do. If you cross the road from the hotel and walk under the subway you will come out directly on the beach and you’ll see the beach bar called Molokos. Definitely worth giving this a go, we went a few times, the seating, cocktails and atmosphere is great and it’s right on the beach so you’ve got a beautiful view. The strawberry daiquiris are amazing and come frozen in a huge glass. We had lunch here one day too, I had tagliatelle carbonara which was €7 and really nice. On our final night we decided to walk left of the hotel down to a pizza place and had dinner. Worst pizza I have ever had in my lifetime! It tasted like charcoal and I dunno what cheese was used on it but it wasn’t mozeralla that I’m certain of. The tiramisu came out of a packet and they charged €5 for that so yeah I would advise you stay well clear of that place. There’s a little train stop opposite the hotel which you can catch once an hour for €3 that takes you into the little town of Calella. We did this and enjoyed it. Calella is okay, it has lots of shops and bars and restaurants so if you fancied a day out you should do this. I’d say that and the beach bar were the best things about this mini break away. I don’t think we will visit Barcelona again, especially not this area and absolutely not this hotel. I am so confused how it’s gained a 4star superior rating, I wouldn’t even give it 2 stars. It’s full of old people who are aged 65 plus and have walking sticks or zimma frames.. it’s all inclusive but you don’t get given a wrist band like in most all inclusive hotels, instead they give you about 5 plastic cards and you have to hand these cards into the bar each time you want a drink. They keep hold of the cards until you return the glass back and want another. The system they are using is soooo strange and seems very bizarre to me. This was meant to be our honeymoon break away, I feel like I need to check into the priory now.
