Day 40. When things change inside you, things change around you.

lifestyle

Losing weight & changing my eating habits, is like a total detox for me, both physically and mentally. I always said when I was on Cambridge weight plan that it almost felt like an anti depressant to me. To some that may sound crazy, but I think what I meant was, when you change your mindset, your whole outlook on everything surrounding you also changes. I’ve hoovered the house every single day this week, I’ve woke up with a purpose each morning, I’ve gone to sleep satisfied every single night, I’ve been more optimistic about everything. I started on the sunbeds again this week (those who are as addicted as me will know that it’s an instant mood booster) I have a spring in my step and everything feels extra sparkly. I’m more grateful than ever for what I have, I appreciate Tazmyn more than ever before, my love for her is as deep as it always was but I want to be the best version of myself for her, and for me. She makes me want to live life instead of just exist. I want to grow a stronger relationship with my mother in law, I hate that I’ve shown her a really nasty side of me. Although I can’t change the past, I can decide the future, and I really hope our relationship only gets better. She’s going to be in my life forever and she’s so important to the person I am spending the rest of my life with. I wish I cut ties with my dad sooner, I wish I trusted my gut feeling 10 years ago. I’ve learnt not to straighten my hair every single day anymore, it’s never been in worse condition. Drinking 3 litres of water a day though has seriously made the world of difference to my skin. Kindness costs nothing. I want people to read my blog and see if I can do it, anyone can. But most importantly, I want to read this blog back and be proud of how far I’ve come.

Day 33. Decide every morning that you’re in a good mood 💫

lifestyle

Quote of the day:

“Get into the habit of asking yourself: Does this support the lifestyle I’m trying to create?!”

___________

I slept like a baby last night. Since giving up fizzy drink, every night I’ve had the most amazing sleep. I used to be addicted to Diet Coke and could drink up to 6 cans a day 🤦🏻‍♀️ but now I don’t miss it at all. Fizzy drink just made me feel so rubbish, so bloated, major headaches, bad teeth, acid reflux, not to mention the rest. Getting into the habit of drinking water is so good! I’ve had a few people tell me that they really struggle to drink water, and I totally get that. We mainly drink sugar free flavoured water, or add sugar free squash. I find that drinking from 1 litre bottles really helps me opposed to big 2 litre bottles that just feel like they’re too big and overwhelming. So with breakfast, I finish a 1 litre bottle of water, again the same at lunch, and the same at dinner. I find the evenings easier to drink water, not sure why that is. Obviously you need the loo a lot more when you drink lots of water, but the more you go to the loo and the more you drink, the more weight you tend to lose! My skin has also been so much better since cutting out fizzy, drinking more water and changing my diet. Water is just the key to everything in my opinion. How much water do you drink?! We’ve recently started doing some exercise too which if you know me, you’ll be as shocked about that as I am. Believe me. I think the reason I always hated exercise in the past was because I just didn’t have the energy or motivation to want to do it. We go swimming now. We became members last year to a private health club and use their pool as much as we can, we need to get back in the routine of going regularly again as we also want to take an aqua aerobics class too as we both love being in the water! I hate walking, but since eating healthily and losing a little bit of weight, I’ve definitely found I’ve had more energy which as a result has made me walk more. Each morning we do 20 minutes of cardio at home. I find Instagram such a good source of motivation for this, there’s so much you can do from home these days which mean you don’t need to go to a gym which can seem incredibly daunting, if like me, you’ve never liked exercise!

Day 26. You get what you work for, not what you wish for.

lifestyle

Hello sweets 💓 how’s it Friday again? Time is really flying lately! I had some really lovely messages from you all yesterday after I’d posted our first monthly weigh in results! I appreciate them all so much. I actually got a bit emotional when we weighed ourselves yesterday, because for 10 years I had convinced myself that the only way to successfully lose weight, was to practically starve myself and do a shake diet, such as Cambridge weight plan! I never for one second believed that just by changing my eating habits and making better choices food wise, I’d be able to lose almost a stone in a month!! I’m so proud of us. We haven’t starved ourselves, we have never gone to bed hungry. We’ve had lovely dinners every single night, saved money by not having take-aways or meals out (Apart from Bella Italia last night!) and just generally, we’ve had such a spring in our steps with a real motivational boost which is what I think we both needed. I’m not scared to say, prior to one month ago, I could easily eat a whole pack of biscuits per sitting with a cup of tea completely unaware of how many calories I was consuming in one go. We wouldn’t have been able to go into a coffee shop without ordering cake or cream on our hot chocolates. Walking round supermarkets just tired the life out of me and I’d always be out of breath and have pain in my back. I’m 28 years of age, under no circumstances should I be suffering back ache. So I knew something had to change and it was about time we took control of our diet instead of letting our diet control us. No going back now. Of course there will be treat days, we’re only human. I think by depriving ourselves of little treats every so often, makes us want them more and increases the chances of us going back to our old ways. Summer is just around the corner, we can’t wait for barbecues and picnics! Birthdays and holidays. Every day won’t be under 1,000 calories but it’s all about balance and that’s something we are now learning. For me, giving up Diet Coke and all fizzy drinks has been a huge thing. Tazmyn asked me last night if I’d treat myself to a can of Diet Coke from the supermarket but I said no. Not because I don’t feel I can have one here and there, but because I truly don’t feel like I need it anymore. Fizzy just made me feel bloated, gave me chronic indigestion and generally just didn’t make me feel good. However good the taste of Diet Coke is!

___________

Fridays intake:

Breakfast – Coconut milk porridge, frozen raspberries, chia seeds & granola topper (I promise I’m going to get more adventurous soon! I want to start making fruit smoothies for breakfast!) – 200 Calories 💕✨

1 litre of water

Lunch – Spent the afternoon with Rory at softplay today which was really nice! He’s getting so big and learning new things every day. We love our soft play and costa dates ☕️💕 – 204 Calories for lunch! I am a little bit obsessed with the café latte slimfast shakes!

2 litres of water (smashing my water intake!)

___________

Dinner – I tried out a new recipe tonight. Vegetable lasagne and salad! I’m going to pop the full recipe up in a separate post so look out for that, but this is only 321 calories per portion, with salad! 💛

Pudding – Strawberry jelly – 10 Calories

1 litre of water 💦

_________

Daily calorie intake: 725 Calories 💕

Going to have some salty popcorn and a cup of tea in bed later! Each pack are 56 calories ✨

Little non related bit of info, but we ran into an old school friend of mine today who I hadn’t seen in years, and it was the first time I’ve actually introduced Tazmyn as my wife, since everyone in our life obviously know we’re married. It felt so good 🥰🔐✨

Anyway, have a lovely weekend sweets!

Until tomorrow,

Day 19. We are the directors of our own mindset.

lifestyle

Hello day 19, how is everybody today? A few people have asked me what differences am I seeing within myself since eating healthier.. well, the answer is quite literally loads. We’re only 19 days in, and completely unaware of how much weight we’ve lost since we aren’t weighing in until the 25th march as that will be our monthly weigh in, so we can only really go off how we physically feel within ourselves. For me, a couple of my tops are super loose on me, my wedding ring literally falls off (not so good!)! I’m finding myself having a lot more energy, and the lower back ache I’d been struggling with for a couple of months, has now gone. Eating healthier and changing habits you’ve had of a lifetime really benefits every aspect of your life! 🌸

Also I want to say a massive happy birthday to our little darling Rory who’s 2 today! 🎁🎈He’s bought so much love and laughter into all of our lives, we have loved watching him grow and we can’t wait to celebrate with him at his birthday party on Sunday!

What I’m listening to

lifestyle

These sorts of posts need to be a lot more frequent.

🌸 Zayn ft timberland – Too much

Okay so I’m pretty much obsessed with this song, ever since Zayns album Icarus Falls dropped, I’ve had this song on repeat. It’s definitely my favourite from the album.

🌸 Kanye West ft Sia – Wolves

Sia’s verse is too much.

🌸 Little Mix ft Ty Dolla $ign – Think about us

I love this version as it’s different to the one that’s on the album.

🌸 Krept & Konan – pour me another one

Just loooooove this tune.

🌸 Calvin Harris & Rag’n’Bone man – Giant

I heard this for the first time in a pub and instantly loved it. Rag n Bone mans voice is insane.

12 foods I hate

lifestyle

Another blog post bought to you by the brains of my wonderful wife.

I love food, I’m an absolute foodie, but I’m fussy too and there’s things I hate.

Tomatoes – not like ketchup or pasta sauce or pizza sauce but like actual whole tomatoes. And I call myself Italian? 🤦🏻‍♀️😳

Mayo

Roast Pork And Roast Lamb

• Tuna – when people go into subway and ask for a 6 inch tuna cheese and toasted, are you feeling okay hun?

Beetroot

Cheese and onion crisps – the smell 😷🤮

Raisins

Bananas

Liquorice

• Duck

• Gherkins

There’s probably like 300 other things I hate as well but these are the mains, so if you ever invite us for dinner, be sure to check here first for cross reference and to avoid awkward “I’m just so full, I had a really big lunch” conversations.

What foods do you hate? I’d love to know 🧡
