And most importantly love, like it’s the only thing you know how, at the end of the day, all this means nothing, this page, where you’re sitting, your degree, your job, the money, nothing even matters except love and who you loved, and how deeply you loved them… how you touched the people around you and how much you gave them.

Butterflies and boundaries

lifestyle

Your favourite colour is red and your lucky number is 11, because that’s the date of your birthday. You talk in your sleep and you take videos of me whenever I’m pissed off about something. You only have coffee to dunk your biscuits in, you never actually drink it, but you still say I make the best coffee. You like horror movies and I love romance. We compromise by me having two hour baths whenever you want to watch silence of the lambs. You stick your bottom lip out whenever you want something and you give Gracie way too many treats. Do you remember that time you ran over a squirrel in your car when we were on a drive one Sunday? I was so mad at you about it. You set alarms on your phone for everything and you’re super organised. You make lists and I’m pretty sure your browser history is 90% Asda because you’re always on the bloody website! I cook the pasta and you make everything else. That’s just the way it is. We hate Ikea. You take longer in the bathroom than I do. I call you Tazzie when I’m trying to piss you off. I like looking after you when you’re not well. You’re the thortful one, but I’m learning. You pretend to love strictly come dancing just because you know I do. I love you for that. You keep me sane in airports because I hate them. You’re so calm and level headed. You are the reasoning behind my madness, I’d be lost without you. You win on the scratch cards, I never do. You remind me I’m almost 30 every day of my life. You’re more excited about it than me. We love garden centres and anywhere that has a cafe. I don’t like your driving and you tolerate my singing. We laugh at the same things. We like the same food. You look up the menu on your phone 3 days before we even book the table. I love the way you talk to my cat. I got chewing gum stuck in your hair the first night you ever stayed over at mine and I found it the funniest thing in the world. You like your bacon extra crispy just like me. I hate the way you hold a carrier bag or how long you take to make decisions, but you always end up making the best ones. We shower together. You refuse to wash up but you love to cook. You’re clumsy. Your Manchester accent is really bad. You fancy Emelia Fox and I think I’m okay with it. I still don’t like silent witness though. You said I looked like Kim Kardashian on our wedding day, I think I’ll always remember that. You’re silly and you’re so funny, I always get a tummy ache from laughing so much. You’re the big spoon. I made you love tortellini. We don’t believe in diets. Life is meant to be filled with all the things you love. We love food. You’re stubborn but soft inside. You have put up with so much in your life, and you have the patience of a saint. I never admit it but your music taste is better than mine and you always have the best songs. I am your biggest fan and you are mine. You’re always cheering me on and in my corner, no matter what I do. My love for you holds no bounds, I just hope you know that.

Tom Kerridge’s Sticky Pork Chops.

lifestyle

I have the best wife. One of her many, many talents is her ability to cook, and the fact she really enjoys it too makes it even better! Tonight she made the sticky pork chop recipe from our beloved Tom Kerridge Cookbook! It’s a low calorie meal and there’s not an overwhelming amount of ingredients that are needed which is always a bonus!

Okay so this recipe serves: 2 people

Calories: 420 per serving.

Ingredients:

Pork chops/pork steaks (with all fat removed)

Olive oil spray (we actually use fry light!)

For the marinade sauce:

4 tsp tomato ketchup

1 tsp maple syrup

1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp English mustard

1 tsp cayenne pepper

For the slaw

100g red cabbage shredded (we couldn’t find fresh red cabbage anywhere so settled for carrot!)

100g white cabbage shredded

1 tsp white wine vinegar

2 tsp Greek yoghurt (0% fat)

Method

1. Heat the oven to 240°C/Gas Mark 9. Line an oven tray with baking parchment.

2. Season the pork chops on both sides with salt & pepper. Heat a griddle pan over a high heat. Spray both sides of the chops with the oil spray (fry light). When the griddle pan is smoking hot, add the chops and cook for two minutes on each side or until well charred. Set aside on the lined oven tray.

3. For the marinade sauce, mix all the ingredients together in a small bowl.

4. Coat the chops in the sauce, on both sides. Cook on the top shelf of the oven for 10 minutes or until cooked through.

5. Meanwhile, mix together all the ingredients for the slaw and season with salt & pepper.

6. Remove the chops from the oven, serve with the crunchy slaw.

We actually had homemade potato wedges with ours! Tazmyn is a pro at making chips and wedges, they’re super yummy and slimming world friendly too, if you’re on slimming world that is! (I know a lot of my readers are!) 💗

Dinner was delicious! I’m a lucky girl having a wife who is so good in the kitchen that’s for sure!

What did you have? I can’t believe it’s almost Friday. This week has flown by, probably because of how super busy we’ve been!

Sending love, as always

Weekend plans

lifestyle

I’m so sorry I haven’t blogged in a couple of days, life’s got in the way and we have been so busy I’ve barely had time to pick up my phone. I guess this post is just a little update really, we are currently packing as we are going away for the weekend this weekend. It’s my Christmas present to Tazmyn so she’s really excited, as am I. Expect lots of photos. Foodie pics and hotel related posts too! I’ll probably do a full blog post on the actual hotel once we are back Monday lunchtime because the hotel we are going to is actually the oldest inn in the country. We have been lucky enough to have stayed there 3 times already and this will be our fourth. It’s Tazmyns most favourite place to stay & it’s what she wanted for Christmas so I’m super happy I could surprise her with this. We absolutely love our weekends away and after having the most busiest of weeks, this is just what we need.

I think this morning we’re going to have a mooch around Waitrose and pick up some snacks (something we always do before we go away anywhere!) and then maybe get some lunch somewhere too!

What are your weekend plans? Have you had snow? We haven’t but it’s definitely been freezing.

Sending love,

11pm thoughts.

lifestyle

I read something on Instagram earlier that I loved so much, I googled it and read it over and over again. The words are so powerful that I wanted to share it here on my blog.

Most people get married believing a myth that marriage is a beautiful box full of all the things they have longed for: companionship, intimacy, friendship etc…The truth is, that marriage at the start is an empty box, you must put something in before you can take anything out. There is no love in marriage, love is in people, and people put love in marriage. there is no romance in marriage, you have to introduce it into your marriage. A couple must learn the art, and form the habit of giving, loving, serving, praising, of keeping the box full. If you take out more than you put in, the box will be empty.

With a heart full of love,

Mrs Chalke xx

Goodbye 2018

lifestyle

So I’m writing this post as we are packing to go away for the night tonight and see the new year in, in style! A little tradition of ours now I guess, we always book a hotel somewhere and a table at a restaurant and spend New Year’s Eve somewhere new & start as we mean to go on!

This year has been a crazy ride. So much has happened and as a couple, we have grown so much.

In June we went to Turkey on holiday with my mum! It was all of our first time to Turkey and we fell in love with it. Our hotel was amaaaaazing, it was without a doubt the hottest country we have ever been to, we have booked and paid to go back next June for two weeks this time, we loved it that much!

In July we got married without anybody knowing! Yep that’s right, just us two doing it exactly how we wanted to. I hired the best make up artist I could find to do my hair and make up, picked out a cheap dress online that was lacy and floaty, I even got my mum to do my bouquet without actually knowing they were for her daughter! We managed to get an AMAZING photographer who charged us very little and gave us so much of his time, and we asked two friends to be our witnesses! It was perfect. We wrote our own vows to each other, which will always be my most favourite part about our wedding day, not many couples can say they did that. In the evening we ate Italian food. Honestly our day couldn’t have been anymore perfect. We only announced it to everyone including our family & friends, 24 hours later when we were on the motorway on our way to Brighton for a few days for our “minimoon” of course, we got some mixed reactions from people, but on the whole, the majority of people we love and care about were all SO happy for us and nothing but supportive!

I launched this blog in August, a couple of weeks after we got married. It really started out as a diary, somewhere where I was hoping to document the first year of married life. Within 3 weeks I received my first paid collaboration, which then went on to different companies and brands emailing me regularly with different offers and sponsorships. In the 5 months this blog has been going, our lives have changed massively. I am now a brand ambassador for several different companies, I am paid by two major ones and I’m so passionate about everything I have been lucky enough to promote or review on here for my readers. I can’t wait to see where 2019 takes us.

Our honeymoon was in September, we went to Barcelona! Fell in love with the beaches and the history behind it, the weather was kind to us too!

We celebrated yet another Christmas together! This year was the first Christmas where our baby cousin Rory was in England to really celebrate it and enjoy it with us. First of many! It was all new and exciting to him and we made so many amazing memories as a family that we will cherish forever. Rory and Tazmyn are literally best mates. The way he looks at her 🥰

I am so grateful for everything 2018 has given me. Some doors have been closed, but new ones have opened, and for that, I am so blessed. We have said goodbye to people that no longer serve us any purpose, but we have also created memories with the people that mean most to us. Memories that will last a lifetime. We have visited new places, we have started new traditions, we have tried new things, learnt more about ourselves and truly grown as people. I am now a wife! How crazy is that? I wasn’t one of these girls who spent their lives dreaming of my wedding day, it was never something I had mentally planned in my head, but when I met Tazmyn I knew she was my forever, my home. I absolutely love being Mrs Chalke I don’t think I’m ever going to get bored of hearing that or seeing it on letters we get in the post! I am truly content. Everything feels like it was always supposed to.

So from my wife & I, we would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very happy and healthy 2019! We hope it is filled with love, laughter and even more memories than this year. Remember to love more, to laugh more, and to take all the pictures in the world because moments are just that, moments, but photographs last a lifetime! ✨

& to my readers, the ones who lurk, never comment, but read every single post without fail, the loyal ones who always show love, the bloggers who have truly inspired me to write this year (Bethany Rose you know you’re at the top of my list, always!) those of you who have now become friends, and helped me whenever I’ve had something I’m not sure of.. Thank You! This has been the most amazing, life changing year for me, & I am so lucky to have been able to share it with all of you. Stay around for the ride, because 2019, we’re going bigger and better! 💗

With love, always

Our Sunday in Windsor 🏰🌷✨

lifestyle

I used to hate Sundays before I met Tazmyn, I mean like really hate them, but I’ve found they’re definitely more enjoyable if either A – there’s a roast dinner involved or B – we go out for the day and do something. Unfortunately there was no Sunday dinner for us today, but we did spend a few hours in Windsor which was really nice.

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, I absolutely love living where we do. I would never and will never want to live anywhere else. There’s links to so many places and so many things to do, it’s home of Windsor Castle, why on earth would I ever want to leave?

We couldn’t decide on lunch at pizza express or a pub today, settled for the pub because we have had a pizza express recently so fancied something different, plus we weren’t majorly hungry.

We had chicken wraps and chips at the King & Castle pub in Windsor, directly opposite Windsor Castle, it was super cheap too £6.50 including a drink so absolute bargain!

We did a bit of shopping afterwards too..

Lush heaven..

I had to be dragged out of River Island because I wanted to buy the contents of the shop. There’s like 3 bags I want, a pair of boots, a purse, perfume, not to mention the rest! I was just about to buy the perfume when Tazmyn told me not to. Turns out she bought it for me without me knowing, love her 😍

Paris by night from River Island literally smells insane, have you tried it? Even though Tazmyn got me one today, I’m going to ask for another for Christmas. Perfect stocking filler right? 🎁

We had coconut hot chocolates in the best place in all the universe, Pret obviously. If anyone is stuck what to get me for Christmas (you shouldn’t be because I’m the easiest person to buy for.. Pret gift cards will do!) ☕️🍂🌷✨

Once we were home, it was pjs on, candles burning, heating whacked up high, chorizo, tomato and garlic pasta bake in the oven & a night in front of the telly watching the Strictly and XFactor results! – little mix’s performance on the X factor though… 😮😮 aaamaazing!! I think I need to add tickets to their tour on my elfster wish list this year 🤣😭😩 love them.

What did your Sunday consist of? Let me know, I hope you all had a lovely day 🌷✨😘
