The Ted Bundy Tapes, Abducted in Plain Sight, Sunday Lunch & Gemma Collins.

Didn’t actually know what to name this blog post so thought I’d title it a bit of everything and just hope for the best.

So, we’ve finally managed to have a Netflix binge & caught up on The Ted Bundy Tapes, I’ll be honest, I didn’t really know who Ted Bundy was prior to watching the Netflix show, I found the 4 episode documentary quite hard to get into, it was slow and I got bored but I stuck with it. It’s a fascinating case that’s for sure, and is chilling in parts too. Ted Bundy was a monster and extremely calculated. How he managed to escape prison twice blew my mind, and went on to kill more girls during his escape just doesn’t bare thinking about. I don’t believe in the death penalty, never have and I don’t think I ever will so obviously hearing about how he was executed wasn’t pleasant, but he took so many peoples lives and he was so incredibly dangerous. If you haven’t managed to see the Netflix four part series, you should.

We watched Abducted in Plain Sight too Which again is on Netflix, another mind blowing case. At first I literally thought the people you see talking in the documentary were actors, as I couldn’t actually believe what I was hearing could ever be true. It basically shows a families torment when one of their daughters gets abducted by their family friend/neighbour. But it’s sooooo much deeper than just that, I mean it’s sick really. I’m not too sure if I like the way the documentary was done, the actual family members resembled actors and seem really fake when speaking, the recreated scenes of what actually happened, annoyed me as well but the case in itself, is bizarre. I came away from watching the 1 hour 30 minute documentary still so bloody confused, I felt like the parents were not right in the head and they were somewhat to blame. It’s a hard one to explain unless you’ve seen it, so I’d recommend it to those who haven’t seen it. Prepare for some fucked up true crime shit.

We took my mum out for Sunday lunch today which was really nice. You can’t beat a good roast dinner on a Sunday can you? How pretty does my creme brûlée look? It tasted amazing.

We’re currently snuggled up watching Dancing on Ice (our usual Sunday night routine!) – I’m really annoyed that Gemma Collins keeps getting a load of stick! She’s a QUEEN and she gets up and shows up every week without fail, that in itself should be commended. I can’t imagine getting so much abuse from the public and how it must eat away at your self esteem and confidence every single day. She’s an icon! And as for James Jordan getting 9.5 by the judges? Umm, he’s a professional dancer babes, how is that fair?! I want Wes to win personally, I think he’s amazing! 💗 who’s your faves?

I’m about to do a face mask and drink some ribena. I hope everyone’s had a wonderful weekend and is fuelled ready for a full week ahead!

Sending love,

Date day 🔐

I took Tazmyn out today for a “date day” as we don’t really get the chance to do it in the evening. I told her to choose wherever she wanted to go and we’d go. When she said Windsor I think I was secretly hoping she would choose Marco Pierre Whites steakhouse as we have been there a few times and it’s amazing, but nope, she chose Nando’s didn’t she. We had a lovely afternoon though, even if I do think I’ve caught hypothermia now!

What do you get when you go to Nando’s? I feel like Nando’s is sooo overrated personally but I know everyone loves it! Especially my wife. I had a chicken wrap, with chilli jam and grilled halloumi, with sides of creamy mash and spicy rice! It was nice and I enjoyed it. The Windsor Nando’s is always so so busy though!

We did some shopping too, I got us a bath bomb each from Lush and we got a few things in the body shop too! Tazmyns really into the seaweed range at the moment, I think we pretty much have every seaweed product the body shop currently sells! Whenever we go to Windsor we always have a look around Daniels too, it’s a big department store and really really lovely! 💗

The main part of Tazmyns date day, was the ice cream date. I told her I’d take her for an ice cream date at Christmas so we finally got round to doing that today. We went to Creams cafe in Windsor and would highly recommend it! Tazmyn now wants to go all the time 😭🤦🏻‍♀️

I had a crepe filled with sliced strawberries and covered in chocolate sauce and sprinkles with a side of cream, Tazmyn went for a waffle with Nutella, chocolate fudge pieces, kinder bueno and chocolate sauce! I don’t think she could have ordered anything more chocolate-ey if she tried! We both had a slush puppy too which was really nice!

I hope she’s had a really lovely day today, because I know I have! On our way home we stopped in Waitrose right by our house to pick up a few things for the week, not that we’ll need to eat again tonight that’s for sure!

It’s so good to get into a warm toasty house, with fresh pyjamas on and the heating whacked up high! Tea & snugs for us tonight.

Sending love, wishing you all a positive week ahead!

11pm thoughts.

I read something on Instagram earlier that I loved so much, I googled it and read it over and over again. The words are so powerful that I wanted to share it here on my blog.

Most people get married believing a myth that marriage is a beautiful box full of all the things they have longed for: companionship, intimacy, friendship etc…The truth is, that marriage at the start is an empty box, you must put something in before you can take anything out. There is no love in marriage, love is in people, and people put love in marriage. there is no romance in marriage, you have to introduce it into your marriage. A couple must learn the art, and form the habit of giving, loving, serving, praising, of keeping the box full. If you take out more than you put in, the box will be empty.

With a heart full of love,

Mrs Chalke xx

Our Sunday in Windsor 🏰🌷✨

I used to hate Sundays before I met Tazmyn, I mean like really hate them, but I’ve found they’re definitely more enjoyable if either A – there’s a roast dinner involved or B – we go out for the day and do something. Unfortunately there was no Sunday dinner for us today, but we did spend a few hours in Windsor which was really nice.

I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again, I absolutely love living where we do. I would never and will never want to live anywhere else. There’s links to so many places and so many things to do, it’s home of Windsor Castle, why on earth would I ever want to leave?

We couldn’t decide on lunch at pizza express or a pub today, settled for the pub because we have had a pizza express recently so fancied something different, plus we weren’t majorly hungry.

We had chicken wraps and chips at the King & Castle pub in Windsor, directly opposite Windsor Castle, it was super cheap too £6.50 including a drink so absolute bargain!

We did a bit of shopping afterwards too..

Lush heaven..

I had to be dragged out of River Island because I wanted to buy the contents of the shop. There’s like 3 bags I want, a pair of boots, a purse, perfume, not to mention the rest! I was just about to buy the perfume when Tazmyn told me not to. Turns out she bought it for me without me knowing, love her 😍

Paris by night from River Island literally smells insane, have you tried it? Even though Tazmyn got me one today, I’m going to ask for another for Christmas. Perfect stocking filler right? 🎁

We had coconut hot chocolates in the best place in all the universe, Pret obviously. If anyone is stuck what to get me for Christmas (you shouldn’t be because I’m the easiest person to buy for.. Pret gift cards will do!) ☕️🍂🌷✨

Once we were home, it was pjs on, candles burning, heating whacked up high, chorizo, tomato and garlic pasta bake in the oven & a night in front of the telly watching the Strictly and XFactor results! – little mix’s performance on the X factor though… 😮😮 aaamaazing!! I think I need to add tickets to their tour on my elfster wish list this year 🤣😭😩 love them.

What did your Sunday consist of? Let me know, I hope you all had a lovely day 🌷✨😘

Lil life update

My skin is horrendous, contemplated doing a blog post about it but who in their right mind would want to read about how the doctor recently told me at the grand old age of 28 the reason for my acne breakout is stress related. I know I wouldn’t. I’d scroll all the way past that bitch, but yeah, my skin has never been so bad, and while I tell myself daily I don’t entertain any form of stress, I quite obviously do, I just like to pretend I don’t. I’m on medication from the doctor that clearly states not to be taken with milk. Ew, I don’t even drink milk anyway! But how random, milk? Who even knew that could be potentially harmful. Not me. Our Saturday routine of going to Marks and Spencer’s cafe for hot chocolate and cake was kinda ruined by the fact I’m on my period and fancied a toastie instead but they happened to be all out of toasties so I settled for a sausage muffin at 3:30pm in the afternoon when I think my heart still kinda wanted the hot chocolate, looking back I should have got both, but the girl who was serving me seemed put out enough when I asked her to heat the sausage muffin up, so if I said I wanted a hot chocolate as well she may have had a bitch fit. There ya go, that was my act of kindness for the day, I spared the 18 year old girl who served me in M&S the hassle of having to make me a hot chocolate with cream and marshmelllows. I’ve been in a moany naggy mood all day, half of me wants Diet Coke and loads of it, the half wants to fall asleep in Tazmyns arms with a hot water bottle on my belly. So obviously I’m going to do both. My mum offered to cook dinner for us tonight, like we needed convincing, her gambas pil pil is our favourite meal of all time (apart Tazmyns roast beef dinner for me) but it’s so good.

It didn’t disappoint. Prawns, garlic and all the chilli, with looads of crusty bread. Tazmyn has said all night how it’s her favourite meal ever.

We FaceTimed the inlaws like we do most Saturdays, we watched Strictly and Xfactor.. I hope to god those snakes Katya and Sean(n) get booted off as a matter of urgency and I am outraged that they were even allowed to perform again after breaking both of their real life partners hearts. What kind of example are they setting really? I certainly don’t want to see them on my TV screens that’s for sure. I’m struggling to get into XFactor if I’m honest, it just doesn’t feel the same this year. I love Louis Tomlinson and I like judges houses, but I think I’ll wait until live shows to say who my favourites are. Right now I don’t have any.

We’re off to Bournemouth tomorrow for a couple of days, a wedding present from my mum. She knows us so well, we love our nights away. We have been to Bournemouth quite a few times, so really looking forward to it. We also have a free meal at wildwood restaurants to look forward to, after they reached out to me and invited us to review them, so that’s exciting! Everything’s good, and I’m grateful for everything and everyone in my life right now.

Hope everyone’s having a fab weekend 💗

Review: Thames Riviera Hotel

As some of you may know, we were recently invited for a complementary stay at the Thames Riviera Hotel in Maidenhead where we live, with lunch/dinner and breakfast the following morning included. This was a huge opportunity for us, and we are ever so grateful. Who knew these sort of perks could come from simply just writing about our lives? Forever grateful.

So, The Thames Riviera Hotel is situated right on the banks of the river Thames by Maidenhead bridge. The hotel comprises of 52 bedrooms, 18 which are situated in the waterside lodge which is sited to the rear of the main building. The hotel has a renowned restaurant and bar called The Blue River Cafe that is known for its lively atmosphere, live music and great tasting food. The Thames Riviera Hotel is close to Dorney Lake home of the 2012 summer olympics, as well as Henley on Thames, Legoland Windsor, Thorpe Park, Heathrow Airport and Cliveden House. The hotel provides free parking for guests, and rooms vary from a single to an executive suite. Pricing can all be found on the Thames Riviera Website.

Our stay

We checked in to the hotel at around 1:45 in the afternoon on a Sunday, and although check in isn’t officially until 2:00pm, the hotel had no problem with us being early and were able to get us checked in straight away. We were kindly given the premium suite, which was situated in the outer building Waterside Lodge, to the rear of the main building. Our room was 412, and had a gorgeous river facing view with our own balcony.

The room itself was lovely, comprised with a king size bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a flat screen TV on the wall, bottled water and glasses, a walk in wardrobe with an ironing board, an iron, plenty of coat hangers and a fan as well, as due to how old the building is, the rooms do not come with AC.

The bathroom was nice too, small, but equipped with a bath and shower, a heated towel rail, and complementary toiletries as well.

Inside the Guest Directory left inside the bedroom, was information on lots of things including a price list of the laundry service the hotel provide, breakfast times in the restaurant, room service as well as a food and drinks menu, local taxi company phone numbers should you need one, local attractions you may like to visit, details about how to log into the free WiFi that the hotel provide, housekeeping and how to organise a morning call if you wanted one.

With our stay, we were kindly given a complementary lunch or dinner and breakfast the following morning. We arranged to have lunch, and booked a table in the main restaurant for 2:30pm. We have infact eaten in the Blue River Cafe several times previously so we knew our way around the restaurant and the standard of food they provide. It was a Sunday, so I went for the Carvery, and Tazmyn decided to try the Veggie burger out instead. The staff told us we could have a three course lunch should we want to, but we settled on having just the two courses instead. Main and pud. Our favourite. The roast beef that I had was lovely, the creamed cabbage with bacon was my favourite part! 😍 – If you wanted to come for a two course Sunday lunch here, it is priced at £9.99 which is an absolute bargain! For that price, you can choose from either a starter and main, or main and a dessert. If you didn’t fancy doing the Carvery, like Tazmyn, there some alternatives you could have chose from too, so fantastic value for £10!

For Dessert we both went for ice cream. I had coconut and lemon, Tazmyn had amaretto and caramel. The coconut ice cream in this restaurant is seriously insane, I’ve had it every single time we have come here! 😳

After lunch, we decided to go for a walk, it was a sunny day so it seemed like the perfect excuse to have a walk along the beautiful river. We really are so blessed to live in such a pretty place, I’ll never want to live anywhere else.

We stopped off at a corner shop to get some snacks for our hotel room, and walked back to the hotel to chill in our room. Who doesn’t love Hotel life though?

In the evening, I took a bath, we did face masks, ordered some room service.. like we even needed more food but oh well, absolute foodies over here! 😳🤦🏻‍♀️💗

The Thames Riviera Hotel offer 50% off all food on Sunday evenings after 7pm. So for two sausage ciabatta’s we paid something like £5!! And then the ice creams which were half price as well, £2 each! How could we not really? I think we’ll definitely come back for a Sunday evening meal, there’s so much to choose from on the menu! 🙂

(Yes I was reading the menu in the bath!)

We watched Strictly, and then X Factor, followed by the second part of the cry on bbc one.. oh my gahhhhd who is watching that please? Jenna Coleman is gripping. I can’t take my eyes off her, I don’t think I’ve ever seen an actress who can hold the audiences attention quite like she does, the entire episode left me with chills in my body. I was convinced Alexandra the ex wife had teamed up with Joanna and they’d hatched a plan to hide baby Noah to kind of punish Alistair and teach him a lesson for wanting to take Alexandra’s daughter Chloe away from her, turns out I’m probably wrong.. I won’t spoil it for you if you haven’t already seen it, go catch up!

We slept really well, the bed was super comfy, and the room wasn’t too hot or too cold. Breakfast was good, with a continental style buffet, as well as a cooked breakfast buffet too. There was a wide range of pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurts, cereals and cold meats, where as the hot buffet food included bacon, eggs, tomatoes, hash browns, mushrooms and beans. I always opt for the continental version wherever we go for breakfast, it must be the Italian in me!

Overall, our stay at the Thames Riviera Hotel has been lovely and we will certainly be recommending this hotel to family and friends or just anyone visiting the local area and needing somewhere to rest their head at night.

Again, massive thanks to the management at the hotel who so kindly invited us to stay with them, this has opened so many doors for me as a newly established blogger, and I’m very grateful for this wonderful opportunity! 💗

If you have any questions about this Hotel, or think I’ve missed anything out within my review, please do just ask or let me know!

Sending love,

I’m a Taurus. For the most part I don’t know what that means, but I convince myself that’s the reason I pay over £2 for a glossy magazine just so I can read my horoscope. I love awkward silences and hate the summer if I’m in the UK. I’ve never been one for small talk, I’d rather know if your parents are still together and are you close to your dad? My favourite number is 3. I bite my lip when I’m deep in thought. I don’t like the taste of alcohol. Sometimes I wonder what my cat would say to me if she could talk. I sleep with the window open. My childhood is a blur, and I only remember the bad bits. I was always baby spice. My English teacher told me I would be nothing when I left school, I’m going to dedicate a sentence to her when I write a book. I’ve always been a worrier, but never a nail biter. I like my eyebrows. My mum calls me “love” and I hate it. Lilly is my favourite name in the entire world. I often wonder if my nan could see me now, would she be proud. Vanilla and coconut are my favourite smells. I’ve started to eat sweetcorn. Empty supermarkets relax me. My dream house has an open fire place in the lounge and an island in the kitchen. I prefer sorbet to ice cream. I hope one day I can learn to tell my mum I love her before it’s too late. I’m 5ft 7 but I wish I was 5ft 4. Twitter is my favourite social media platform. I had a “who even am I?” moment at a Maleek Berry concert last year but it was so fucking good. I hated the idea of marriage until I met Tazmyn. So cringe but I think she made me believe again. I wish it was Autumn all year round. I think I’m dairy intolerant but ignore it 90% of the time. I get travel sickness. I don’t have a favourite colour but I’m swaying towards yellow these days. Versace crystal noir is my favourite perfume but viva la juicy will always be a close second. I have to have a straw with every drink. Why do McDonald’s never fill the cup up though? I really don’t like the Simpson’s or Olly Murs. Firework night is my favourite time of year. I have an opinion on everything. I’ll never be a smoker. I want to be Alex Polizzi when I’m 47. My first job was washing peoples hair on Saturdays. My biggest fear is losing my voice. I love the feeling of getting into a bed with fresh sheets. I could eat watermelon morning noon and night. I don’t like taking tablets, they don’t seem natural to me. I’m impatient. There’s not one Nicholas Sparks movie that hasn’t made me cry.
